Community Chalk Art Project 2 Support Street Vendors


When RISE Senior Program Manager Hassan Nicholas was brainstorming ideas about driving attention to the organization’s street vendor initiative he knew he wanted to do something outside of the box and grassroots. The Community Chalk Art Project 2 Support Street Vendors hopes to attract artistic talents from within and outside of the South Los Angeles community to create a “sidewalk mural” containing messages that raise awareness about street vendors, jobs, and health. Hassan envisions turning the sidewalks in front of community centers into temporary exhibits that will display startling statistics alongside colorful visuals – all with washable and environment-friendly spray paint chalk.
